All eyes are fixed on Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics as they compete in their second NBA final in three seasons. But where does Jayson Tatum live? The 26-year-old five-time NBA all-star has been with the Celtics since he was the league’s third draft pick at just 19 years old. Despite receiving a generous first contract of $30 million, reports are that the 6’8″ baller did not buy a home for himself until 2019, two years after he began his professional career.

Realtor.com reports that Tatum paid $4 million for two parcels in West Newton, Massachusetts at that time. And although Tatum potentially stands to bank over $300 million with his next Celtics contract, chances of the NBA All-Star MVP splurging on another house right away are slim.

The St. Louis native experienced some tough times as a child growing up with a single mom. As a result, the two have a very close bond, and his attorney mother, who received her law degree when Tatum was just a kid, is the only person he trusts to manage his finances. Known as a savvy spender, Tatum sticks to his mom’s number-one rule, which is that he save all of his NBA earnings and only spend his endorsement money.

“We had a deal before I got drafted that I couldn’t spend the money I make from the Celtics, that I have to live off my endorsements,” the Small Wins gummy candy cofounder told journalist Graham Bensinger in an interview.

As far as is known, the former Duke University player still lives in the Newton, Massachusetts, home he bought in 2019. Built in 1848 and likely renovated in recent years, the house is part of the West Newton Webster Park Historic District, a small group of architecturally significant homes in a subdivision laid out by a local landscape architect in 1844. Spanning two parcels, the manse sits on almost half-acre of land. Twin Gothic gables along with a central dormer adorn the top half of the Gothic Revival’s white façade, while a porch fronts the main entrance flanked by French windows below. Tatum has kept images of his home out of the public eye, so details of the interior after his purchase are unavailable; however, listing images from before the sale show a four-bedroom, four-and-half-bathroom home with high ceilings, lots of windows, and recessed lighting.

On the first floor, an expansive open floor plan greets visitors upon entry. The kitchen’s all-white cabinetry is offset by dark plank flooring, black countertops, and black-and-white granite that tops a 10-foot waterfall island with a sink. The large kitchen opens to a living area with built-in bookshelves and a modern fireplace. Situated upstairs are the four bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. The primary suite comes with a fireplace, dual walk-in closets, and an all-white bathroom adorned with herringbone tiles in the shower, a dual vanity with marble countertops, and a stand-alone bathtub. The home came with a finished basement.

One thing missing from the property when Tatum bought it was a basketball court. On a conference call during the pandemic in 2020, Tatum mentioned how tough it was not being able to practice during that time.
